Hot Springs National Park

Hot Springs National Park is an urban park with significant geothermal spring resources which have made it famous for therapeutic bathing and physical therapy. The city of Hot Springs has a population of 34-35,000 people, although the greater Garland County area is closer to 140,000. Little Rock, a major metropolitan area, is approximately 50 miles to the northeast. Annual visitation last year exceeded 3.2 million. While the summer months are predictably very busy, winter populations within the county can be higher than mid-July. Most of the park’s real estate is mountainous and heavily timbered. Summers can be hot and humid and the winters are usually mild.

Unlike some NPS areas, Hot Springs National Park stays busy all year long, although there are some slower periods during the late fall. Hot Springs National Park is a destination park versus an “lets stop here” park.

Local area schools are very good and several are consistently nationally ranked. Housing costs are unusually affordable and area services are exceptional.

You can check out the city of Hot Springs on the web at: http://www.hotsprings.org/.
